Cherokee County is accepting applications for 2019 project funding out of the federal Community Development Block Grant program, and has scheduled two workshops in May on the program process and timeline.

The workshops are set for 3 p.m., May 17, and 9 a.m., May 22, on the upper level of the county administrative offices, 1130 Bluffs Parkway, Canton. To reserve a place, contact CDBG Manager Laura Calfee, lcalfee@cherokeega.com.

All applications and supporting materials are due by 4 p.m., June 22.

Block grants are available for such activities as housing improvements; public projects including street improvements, senior centers and non-profit facilities; and public services including transportation or staff support. “All projects must substantially benefit low- and moderate-income persons,” officials said.
