The Cherokee County Sheriff is taking applications for school crossing guards to work about 20 hours a week directing traffic at local schools, according to announcements by the Sheriff’s Office and the Cherokee County School District.

Guards will earn $11.26 an hour. To be considered for hiring, an applicant must be a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years old, with a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license.

An applicant can have no felony or family violence convictions, cannot have used marijuana within the last 36 months, and can have no other illegal drug use or DUI convictions in the last five years.
