The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has awarded a $105,000 contract to Wiley Wilson architects and engineers to design an approximately 5,000-square-foot expansion of the Cherokee County Senior Center.

Wiley Wilson submitted the highest-scoring, lowest-priced proposal of two responsive proposals received for the work, according to a staff report to the commissioners.

The Senior Center, at 1001 Univeter Road, Canton, is in need of additional co-working space to include offices, a conference room, restroom facilities and a large walk-in freezer to better accommodate staff and the Meals on Wheels Program, staff said.

The project will be federally funded through the Community Development Block Grant program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
