The Cherokee County School Nutrition Department is seeking partners for its annual Summer Feeding Program, which provides nutritious breakfast and lunches to hundreds of children a day.

Local nonprofit organizations, churches, summer camps and other groups that serve children in need are invited to an informational meeting scheduled for 2 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Cherokee school nutrition office, 135 Mountain Brook Court, Canton.

The program, a partnership of the Cherokee schools and Georgia Department of Education, serves children under the age of 18 years old and runs from June 4 to July 20. Those with questions can call the school nutrition office at 770-721-8419.

Last summer, Cherokee schools served 33,000 lunches and 20,000 breakfasts, an average of about 1,000 lunches and 600 breakfasts each day.
