The Cherokee County School District has renewed its partnership agreement with the Cherokee County Farm Bureau to provide scholarships, farm tours and other programming for students.

Under the contract approved by the school board last week, the bureau will submit four student applications annually for four Georgia Farm Bureau scholarships, and locally award two scholarships of $1,075 each to two graduating seniors pursuing a degree related to agriculture.

The bureau will continue with the Chamber of Commerce Partners in Education Program at Indian Knoll Elementary School, and host fifth graders from the school on tours of three farms in May.

It also will participate in a high school art contest, middle school essay contest, third-grade poster contest and first-grade coloring contest; sponsor a Safety Camp for children ages 6 to 12; provide informational materials to administrators at every school; and sponsor a Farm-to-School teacher workshop.
