The Cherokee County Historical Society will assist with field trips to the county history museum, let the school board use the conference facilities at the Crescent Farm Rock Barn, and provide internship opportunities to students under a partnership agreement recently approved by the Cherokee County School Board.

The Canton-based society also will provide speakers to the schools, historical curriculum materials to be distributed at the appropriate grade levels, and judges for the Science Fair, Young Authors Fair, Governors Honors, speech contests and other functions, according to the agreement.

The school district, in turn, will allow the use of school mail for two historical society mailings a year; facilitate education programs promoting local history, using materials provided by the historical society; and promote field trip opportunities to the history museum and Crescent Farm.

The agreement is effective through February, 2019, and automatically renews for additional terms not to exceed five years. Information: http://www.rockbarn.org/
