The LGE Community Credit Union would provide up to $5,000 total to sponsor a scholar recognition banquet and scholar recognition ceremony, as well as a one-time $5,000 scholarship to a qualified graduating senior, under a partnership agreement recently approved by the Cherokee County School Board.

The partnership “formalizes the organization’s financial sponsorship of several special CCSD events for students and begins several new programs including the opportunity for high schools to raise funds through a school spirit credit card,” according to a school board meeting summary.

LGE also would sponsor a December staff breakfast, provide Financial Education 101-type programs, offer “We Love Educators” incentives totaling $250, support at least one school in each of the Canton and Woodstock branch areas through a Partners in Education agreement, and participate in events and programs such as career days and job fairs.

The one-year agreement runs through Aug. 16, 2019, and automatically renews for additional terms of up to five years.
