The Cherokee County School District announced summer high school offerings that include new courses and a “Summer Bridge” program for rising ninth graders.

Cherokee’s summer session, June 5-25, will let rising ninth graders take a half-unit of Personal Fitness and/or Health for high school credit. Classes meet for four hours daily at Cherokee High School and the east campus of Etowah High School. Registration will be held in May and will cost $200 per class/half credit.

The Summer Bridge program is for select, at-risk, rising ninth graders. Though no course credit is awarded, the free, camp-like program lets students preview academic content and work on study skills, navigating high school and building relationships with other students and staff.

Older students can enroll in “Face to Face” classes for credit recovery at the Etowah East campus; or a “Virtual Credit Recovery” offered at each high school, based on student demand. Early registration will be held in May and will cost $200 per class/half credit.
