Cherokee County School District enrollment has exceeded 39,000 students this year, the first time in district history it has reached that figure.

"Our increasing enrollment is further evidence that more families are learning about the top-notch public school system we have here and making the choice to enroll their children with us," said Barbara Jacoby, the district's director of public information.

Jacoby said the district is closely monitoring class sizes and bus routes and will hire additional teachers and staff as needed.
