Parents have until Friday, March 1, to request school reassignments or transfers for the 2019-20 school year under the Cherokee County School District’s school choice option, officials announced.

Seventeen elementary schools have been declared “open,” with classroom space available to students living outside the schools’ attendance zones, the district said.

The list includes most STEM and Fine Arts academies. Also, Freedom Middle School and River Ridge and Sequoyah high schools are open.

There will be no separate enrollment window for the STEM and Fine Arts schools this year, officials said. After March 1, only hardship applications will be accepted.
