Cherokee County has awarded three contracts totaling more than $1.4 million for roadwork in the Woodstock area.

The Board of Commissioners approved a $732,043 contract to Bartow Paving Co. Inc. to make operational improvements to three intersections of Ga. 92. Bartow will create dedicated right-turn lanes where there are currently none from southbound Woodstock Road and southbound Robin Road to westbound Ga. 92. Also, the contractor will create dual left-turn lanes from northbound Bells Ferry Road to westbound Ga. 92 where there currently is a single left-turn lane.

The county also awarded a contract valued at $436,844 to CMES Inc. to construct an additional right-turn lane and left-turn lane storage at the southbound approach of Trickum Road to its intersection with Jamerson Road.

Finally, the county awarded a $244,574 contract to Lewallen Construction Inc. to correct a drainage problem and provide a sidewalk at the amenity area of the Woodcreek subdivision off Woodstock Road. Lewallen also will construct the missing link of a sidewalk across the bridge on Gold Bridge Crossing in the BridgeMill subdivision, and pave the bridge to remove the existing cobblestone surface.
