Cherokee County commissioners have approved an agreement with the Holbrook Campground to lease a fire station on the property. CHEROKEE COUNTY

The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has approved a lease agreement with the Holbrook Campground for the county Fire and Emergency Services to operate and maintain a fire station on the property.

The Holbrook Campground Volunteer Fire Department constructed the station at 2250 Holbrook Campground Road, Alpharetta, in the late 1970s.

With the recent consolidation of volunteer fire services, the lease agreement with the county establishes a legal basis for the fire department to continue operating a fire station on the property, staff said in a report to commissioners. The $1-a-year agreement runs for one year with an automatic renewal for five successive, one-year terms.

The campground is a Christian meeting place where, for more than 175 years, families have gathered "for 10 days of prayer, preaching and hymn signing," according to the facility's website. This year's meeting is July 13-22. Information: http://bit.ly/2FJ4NQV
