The Cherokee County Board of Elections and Voter Registration has named interim elections director Kim Stancil to the job permanently.

Stancil began running the department in July, short after former elections chief Janet Munda was terminated. Munda was arrested over the weekend and accused of felony theft by taking after a six-month investigation. She’s accused of using her county credit card for hundreds of dollars in personal charges.

Cherokee native Stancil has worked in the office for the past eight years and had been assistant director from 2010 until last July.
