U.S. Department of Education and White House officials have named the Cherokee County School District as a 2015 Department of Education Green Ribbon School District Sustainability Awardee.
Cherokee was one of 14 school districts and 58 schools across the country recognized for reducing environmental impact and utility costs, promoting better health and ensuring better environmental education.
The district was nominated for the award by state education department officials.
