The Cherokee County School District plans to hold parades at its high schools from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday to recognize graduating seniors of the Class of 2020.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has delayed commencements to July, graduates will be honored this week in events surrounding the Friday evening lighting of Cherokee County high school football stadiums, according to a district announcement.

“Graduates will drive through a pick-up area for honor cords, medals and other special regalia and, as a gift to every senior from their principal, each will receive an embroidered school patch to affix to their keepsake graduation robes,” the district said. Principals will be sending more information about the event to the parents of seniors.

Graduation ceremonies are tentatively scheduled for July 23-25 at First Baptist Church of Woodstock.
