The Cherokee County schools will work with Life University to develop STEM and health care career days under a partnership agreement recently approved by the Cherokee Board of Education.

STEM Day would have selected students visit the Life campus in Marietta for a day of science, technology, engineering and mathematics learning, while Healthcare Science Career Pathways Day would have selected high school students visit the campus for a day of career exploration.

Life also would provide speakers and instructors for career days and STEM activities at Cherokee schools; provide staff, when available, to serve as mentors and presentation review board members for high school senior capstone projects; and share opportunities on campus for Cherokee students to earn community service hours, the agreement says.

The school district and university also would explore apprenticeship, internship and dual enrollment program opportunities.

The agreement runs through Nov. 15, 2019, and automatically renews for additional terms up to five years.
