“Parent University,” a new initiative by the Cherokee County schools and county PTA council for parents of high school students, will present as its first topic in March a free program on mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

The program is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m., March 5, at Woodstock High School; March 11, Cherokee High School; March 18, Etowah High School; March 25, River Ridge High School; and March 31, Sequoyah High School. (A session already has been held at Creekview High School.)

Speakers will include representatives of the Cherokee County School District Police Department, the district’s Social and Emotional Learning initiative, and Highland Rivers Health.
