A $10,000 competitive national grant for a healthy schools project has been awarded to Hasty Elementary School Fine Arts Academy in Canton.

The school was the Grand Prize and Title I winner in the annual Super Health, Super You Community Challenge sponsored by Novo Nordisk and Discovery Education, according to a Cherokee County School District announcement. The grant will fund a sensory walking path on Hasty Elementary's campus.

“The path will be a place for students and staff to exercise, enjoy nature, reflect on goals and foster positive social-emotional connections,” the district said. The winning idea was created by Hasty students and submitted by physical education teacher Barry Dalton, with the support of Principal Rodney Larrotta.
