The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has granted a Woodstock homeowners association’s request to remove a speed hump and install a four-way stop at a nearby intersection.

The Eagle Watch Homeowners Association asked for the removal of the hump on Eagle Watch Drive within 150 feet of Colonial Drive, on the east side of the Eagle Watch subdivision, and the installation of an additional stop sign where the two streets cross.

“Colonial Drive is part of the most popular walking route in Eagle Watch,” Kenneth Hair, community association manager, said in a letter to the county. “The intersection is becoming more and more dangerous as time passes for walkers as drivers appear to be increasing speeds, and there is no pedestrian crossing.”

A painted crosswalk can be installed at the intersection, Public Works Director Geoffrey E. Morton said in a memo to commissioners. The hump will be removed as part of an already-scheduled resurfacing project.
