A Creekview High School senior was killed Friday in a predawn wreck in Cherokee County.

Cheyenne Gabrielle Heard, 17, of Canton, was eastbound on Ga. 20 when she ran off the roadway and struck a culvert around 3:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck Heard was driving overturned, and the teen, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and killed.

Heard was alone in the truck, and no other vehicles were involved.

“The school has extra counselors available to assist students, and the principal will be sending a letter home to all parents,” Cherokee County School District spokeswoman Barbara Jacoby said.

In that letter, Dr. Adrian Thomason, principal of Creekview, called Heard “an energetic studentwho was known as a friend to all.”

“She came to class in a good mood with a smile on her face,” Thomason wrote in the letter to parents.

“Friends remember her as a wonderful, kindhearted soul who brought life into every room she entered,” the principal said. “We will stick together and help each other to get through this very sad and difficult time.”

Funeral arrangements for the teen will be announced by Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming.
