Cherokee County burglar suspect caught in the act
A man caught after he allegedly broke into a Woodstock leasing office first told police he worked at the apartment complex. But a legitimate employee told police that wasn't the case.
Then, he said he lived in the complex and needed to use the restroom. But a broken window and damaged alarm system told a different story.
Officers arrested 38-year-old Steven Rudolph of Woodstock late Friday night after he allegedly broke into the Columbia Creek Apartment Complex leasing office, located off of Arnold Mill Road, police said.
As he was being placed into the patrol car, Rudolph broke free from the officers. But he was taken back into custody after a short foot chase, Woodstock police spokeswoman Brittany Duncan said.
Rudolph has been charged with burglary, criminal damage to property, and giving false name and false information to a police officer. He was booked into the Cherokee County jail, police said.
