A Thursday afternoon head-on crash on East Cherokee Drive sent five people to the hospital.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Tim Cavender said a white Ford Mustang and a red Infiniti had smashed together. A male and female in the back of the Ford were ejected after it apparently flipped and the driver and a front-seat passenger had to be extricated. The female driver of the Infiniti was also hurt.

Cavender said all five had moderate to severe injuries. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
