The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce announced the start of the 8th annual Mayors’ Recycling Challenge, when five cities will try to outdo the others for most recyclables collected per capita during June and July.

Ball Ground, Canton, Holly Springs, Waleska and Woodstock also will vie for the honor of most improved city, based on 2018 collection totals, the chamber said.

The competition is an initiative of the Chamber’s Going Green Committee whose mission is “to encourage the community to implement green practices that conserve community resources while helping businesses thrive,” according to the contest announcement.

Curbside and large recycling container weigh slips will be tracked by participating sanitation services: Cycle Works Sanitation and Recycling, Santek Waste Services of Georgia, Waste Management and Advanced Disposal. Information: 770-345-0400 or https://bit.ly/2Kj8AbT
