Bob Lupton, author of “Toxic Charity: How Churches and Charities Hurt Those They Help (And How To Reverse It), will be the speaker at 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at Northwest Presbyterian Church, 4300 Northside Drive.

Lupton is the president of FCS (Focused Community Strategies) Urban Ministries of Atlanta. His book examines how sometimes the most well-intentioned acts can make the people they’re designed more dependent instead of learning skills to improve their lives.
