Two Cobb County women are awaiting trial on theft charges after being accused stealing thousands of dollars in two separate incidents from a high school track team and a Parent-Teacher Association, authorities said.

Tenneca Lashell Dowell, of Mableton, allegedly stole $5,350.25 from the Pebblebrook High School track team, according to a Cobb County warrant for her arrest. The 36-year-old woman had taken the team’s money and had agreed to open a bank account for it.

She opened an account at the Best Bank in a Kroger store on Floyd Road, deposited money into it March 21 and started withdrawing funds two days later, but for her personal use, the warrant said. The alleged theft took place over a month’s time.

Dowell surrendered Tuesday and was released later that day on $10,000 bond, according to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.

In the other case, Saida Rahmana McCoy, of Marietta, was charged with theft by taking after she allegedly stole $4,058.53 over a roughly nine-month period ending in May by making ATM and counter withdrawals from the bank account of the Powers Ferry Elementary School PTA, according to an arrest warrant.

McCoy, 41, surrendered Sept.15 and was released the next day on $5,000 bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
