Two men were arrested and charged with burglarizing a Lakewood Avenue pawn shop Tuesday.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said officers arrived at the Lakewood Pawn Shop just before 5 a.m. and found an air-conditioning unit sitting on the sidewalk beside the business and a display case containing several handguns shattered inside.

Officers searched the area and found one suspect hiding about two blocks from the pawn shop. The second suspect, Jones said, walked up to the crime scene and pretended to be a bystander. A witness, however, identified him as one of the men who burglarized the shop, and a security video showed him crawling through an opening and entering the store, Jones said.

Demeco Perry, 20, was charged with burglary, possession of tools to commit crime and criminal damage to property.  Steven Clark, 20, was charged with possession of tools to commit crime and criminal damage to property.

Both men were taken to the Fulton County jail. It was not immediately known what was taken from the shop.
