If you’re a Chamblee homeowner, expect to pay a little less in property taxes this year.

The city voted Monday to decrease property taxes. Rates have been lowered from 6.40 mills to 6.25 mills.

Due to the decreased rate, homeowners with a $350,000 home can expect to save $16.50 on their bill, said Chamblee spokesperson Tisa Moore.

For the past four years, Chamblee had held its millage rate at 6.40 mills.

Moore says the decrease in property taxes is due to new developments in the area. Growth in the area has allowed the city to provide residents the same services with lower rates for property taxes, according to Moore.

Chamblee residents can expect this lowered rate applied to their 2018 bill, which will be mailed in August.
