LaPorte's Facebook profile page shows a picture of her on the set of the popular game show. Chamblee Charter is a magnet school for high achievers in DeKalb.

Brandon Welch, a 17-year-old senior at Gwinnett's Grayson High School also competed in the tournament and won $35,200. The annual teen competition began on Feb. 17 and is hosted by Alex Trebek.
