The management of Lake Lanier and Allatoona Lake has announced it will waive day-use fees for boat launch ramps and swimming beaches in observance of Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11.

The fee waiver applies to more than 2,850 recreation areas nationwide, including seven lakes in Georgia, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The waiver began in 2006 as a way to honor those who served in the Armed Forces, said Mobile District corps spokesman Lance D. Davis.

“We are excited to offer this opportunity to everyone who will visit our recreation areas,” Davis said.

The waiver is for boat launches and beaches and does not apply to camping and camping-related services or for events or specialized facilities, such as group picnic shelters, the corps said. Information: https://bit.ly/32ksd8L
