Restrictions on cemeteries were approved Tuesday by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.

Special land use permits will be needed for new cemeteries for both people and pets. Also, these permits will be required for existing cemeteries that expand by more than 20 acres or more than 50 percent of their size.

To possibly secure these permits, applicants will need to have their cases heard by both the Cobb County Planning and Zoning Commission and the county commissioners with public hearings.
