Gwinnett Animal Welfare will host IndePETdence Week July 1 through July 6 with $4 adoption fees at the animal shelter, 884 Winder Highway in Lawrenceville.

“The animal shelter remains near capacity, and we want to provide as many homes as possible for all the great pets at the shelter,” said Alan Davis, Animal Welfare and Enforcement Division Director. “We encourage families to take advantage of time they may have off during the summer to transition the perfect pet into their home.”

The shelter will be closed July 4, but reopen July 5 with the return of Free Fridays. All adoption fees will be waived on all pets each Friday throughout July. “Free Fridays have always been popular, and they help us find forever homes for the dogs and cats at the shelter,” said Davis.

All pets adopted at Gwinnett Animal Welfare have been vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and are ready to go to home with their new families. Any dogs tested heartworm positive will be treated before release. The standard adoption fee is $45 for dogs and puppies and $30 for cats and kittens.
