K-9 Mattis with the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety was put to work on Friday.

Around 10:30 a.m., police pulled over a driver for a traffic violation. Police said the driver gave them a fake name and a fake date of birth, and then fled the scene on foot.

But Richard Blixer couldn’t outrun K-9 Mattis, who caught him at a nearby construction site on Haynes Bridge Road.

Blixer had a felony probation warrant for his arrest, which is why police believe he ran. Police did not say why he was on probation, and Fulton County court records don’t show his name.

Blixer was arrested and transferred to a Fulton County Jail.
