Two sets of skeletal remains found in Fulton County this month have yet to be identified, and the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office is asking for the public's assistance.
On Jan. 11, the remains of a white man, possibly of American Indian or Hispanic mix, were found near Paines and Pike avenues in northwest Atlanta, a Medical Examiner's news release said.
The man, thought to be between 30 and 45 years old, was about 5 feet, 7 inches tall. He was wearing Nike "Skeet" shoes size 9 1/2 and camouflage pants. Authorities believe he probably died as early as 2010.
Several items were found with the remains, including a syringe and a Honda automotive key. The man is believed to have been a smoker and had metal fillings in several teeth. He apparently suffered a broken nose and facial fractures in the past, authorities said.
A distinct characteristic is that one finger on his right hand was permanently bent at a 90-degree angle.
The other still-unidentified remains were found in College Park on Jan. 16.
The body of an approximately 5-foot 6-inch woman, thought to be 30 to 45 years old, was located near Feldwood Road. Due to the condition of the corpse, her race could not be determined and her teeth could not be evaluated, authorities said.
Items found with the remains included an Element watch and Nike "Dart" shoes size 8 1/2. It was determined that she probably died in 2008 or after based on the manufacture date of the shoes, the press release said.
