Cobb County police are investigating a car accident that killed a pedestrian near Marietta.

Investigators were called to Dink Lane just before 10 p.m. Tuesday after a man was hit by a car, police spokeswoman Alicia Chilton said.

Pierre Benjamin, 51, of Marietta, was trying to cross the street in an unlit area when he was hit by a grey Chevrolet Cruze, Chilton said. According to authorities, he was not using a marked crosswalk to cross the street. He died at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze, 22-year-old Blanca Gonzalez, was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with minor injuries.
