Gwinnett County police are investigating an accident that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries Thursday morning.

Police received a call of a pedestrian hit at Bethany Church and Brannen roads at 9:46 a.m., Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said.

The person was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center.

The driver of the car stayed on the scene for questioning.

Police urged drivers to find an alternate route and avoid the area.
