Two car wrecks caused lane closures and delays northbound at I-75/85 past 14th Street early Friday afternoon, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The wrecks, each involving four cars, happened around 1 p.m. and caused major traffic backups for a time, a GDOT spokeswoman told the AJC.

All lanes are now open, but three left lanes had been blocked off at 10th street, according to GDOT, and 14th Street had five left lanes blocked off. Channel 2 Action News reported that the crash at 14 St. was off to the right, and delays began past Highway 166.

The close proximity of the two locations caused heavier conditions, according to GDOT.
