Authorities in Alabama found a capsized kayak on Logan Martin Lake they believe may belong to a missing Cobb County man, St. Clair County Assistant Sheriff Billy Murray said Monday.

The kayak was found near the lake’s dam off County Road 54 near the Kelly Creek boat launch, Murray said. Logan Martin Lake is about 35 miles east of Birmingham.

A search team is actively looking for James Lewis Lowery Sr. of Mableton, who was reported missing over the weekend.

The 69-year-old man was believed to have been kayaking alone in the area.

Because of the terrain, officials are having a tough time searching, but Murray said they are using every resource they have.
