The Canton City Council has passed a resolution for this fall’s municipal election, setting the qualifying period for Aug. 21-23, the non-refundable qualifying fee of $240 for council members, and the dates of Nov. 7 for the general election and Dec. 5 for the run-off, if necessary.

The voter registration deadline is Oct. 10 for the Nov. 7 balloting and possible run-off. Early voting will begin 21 days prior to the election and can be done by mail, in person at the Cherokee County Office of Elections and Registration in Canton, or in person at the county office during the week of advance voting Oct. 30-Nov. 3.

Terms of office expire Dec 31 for three council incumbents: Sandra McGrew, in Ward 1; Bill Grant, in Ward 2; and John Rust, in Ward 3, according to the resolution.
