Canton man killed in Saturday morning wreck

A Canton man was killed early Saturday in a single-vehicle wreck in Cherokee County.

Cherokee sheriff's Lt. Jay Baker said Jason Denny, 36, "was killed instantly when his Saab convertible collided with a retaining wall while traveling westbound on Hickory Flat Highway."

Denny was alone in the vehicle, Baker said.

"Preliminary indications are that speed played a role in the crash," Baker said.
