Smyrna Councilman Wade Lnenicka, community activist Alex Backry and incumbent Mayor Max Bacon have announced plans to run for Smyrna mayor. Lnencika, a 27-year council member representing Ward 6, said at a council meeting Monday that he will challenge Bacon who has been mayor since 1985. Backry, a former city animal control officer, also ran for mayor in 2011 and 2007. Elections will be held in November for Smyrna’s seven council members and mayor.
