After about two years of legal battles and setbacks, the Village of Camden debuted its new water treatment plant Saturday.

Since August 2010, Camden residents have been dealing with water contaminated by the village’s road salt supply. Camden Mayor Tedd Ashman hopes this finally ends the water woes Camden residents have dealt with.

“There’s a huge aqua-flow underneath Camden, that will supply all the water we’ll ever need,” Ashman said. “In fact, it is the same aqua-flow we we ran before. It’s just now we’re further north of the contamination so the salt that contaminated the old wells are not able to contaminate the new ones since we’re upstream.”

The treatment plant has been running since mid-June.
