Brush fires slowed traffic Friday afternoon on I-85 southbound in Gwinnett County, just north of the Old Peachtree Road exit.

Two small fires burned between 1 to 2 acres of grass, but no structures or vehicles were damaged, Gwinnett fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said. Gusty winds helped the blaze spread, he said. Smoke in the area slowed traffic in both directions.

The cause of the blazes has not been determined.
