Daily lane closures are to begin Monday at the Browns Bridge replacement project over Lake Lanier, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.

GDOT contractors will be closing a lane of the bridge from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The span connects Forsyth and Hall counties and carries Browns Bridge Road (Ga. 369) over the main channel of the Chattahoochee River in Lake Lanier.

Weather permitting, “crews will utilize the closures in order to pour a concrete wall and offload steel bridge beams,” GDOT said.

Scott Bridge Co. Inc. won the $28 million contract to replace the existing bridge with a new span with two, 12-foot-wide travel lanes and eight-foot-wide shoulders.
