The Brookhaven City Council approved an intergovernmental agreement with DeKalb County to purchase and preserve 33 acres of land during a recent Council meeting. The property will be maintained as green space within the city and will not be sold for development.

The DeKalb County Commission voted unanimously to authorize the $5.7 million purchase of property located at the intersection of Clairmont and Tobey roads which contains mature trees, a stream, wildlife and native plants.

“This purchase represents one of the largest continuous green space acquisitions inside the Perimeter,” said Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst. “Our thanks to all the DeKalb Commissioners and CEO Mike Thurmond for the ability to preserve this gem in our city for current residents and for future generations.”
