The Brookhaven City Council approved a memorandum of understanding with the state to acknowledge the city’s violations of the Georgia Open Records Act. It had been overcharging fees for copies of dashboard camera and body camera footage from the Brookhaven Police Department. The city accepted a fine of $500 and agreed to charge $18 instead of the $37 fee previously charged.
The Council also voted recently to award Sycamore Consulting Inc. a contract for professional services. The company bid $83,250 to plan the city’s character area project, part of the Comprehensive Plan.
The Council also voted to place speed humps along North Thompson Road from Dresden Drive to Ashford Road, based on a public works study demonstrating constant speeding along the street.
