The Brookhaven City Council unanimously approved establishing an affordable housing task force during the meeting Tuesday. The resolution will allow the Council to appoint members to the newly formed group including a chairman, establish the force’s and mission and declare an effective date.

The council also deferred a resolution to authorize the city manager to execute a contract for the review of the Brookhaven-Peachtree Corridor Overlay District. The purpose of the review is to determine if rezoning is required for the city’s development plan for the area.

The council tabled the resolution until the council meeting on Sept. 27 to allow the Brookhaven Peachtree Street Alliance, a local group which contributed considerable input of this project, and city residents to participate in choosing the consulting firm to conduct the review.
