The Brookhaven Alcohol Board has affirmed the denials of alcohol licenses for four entertainment venues. The board ruled against appeals by Medusa, Rush, XS and Josephine’s.

“The city of Brookhaven has a responsibility to its residents and business stakeholders to enforce its laws and codes to ensure a standard of quality in the community,” said Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst.

The club’s licenses were not renewed when applications, fees and taxes were not received by the renewal deadline.

“Securing a license to serve alcohol is a privilege, not a right. We as a council have approved a license fee structure in cost proportion to the impact a business has on the community,” said District 4 Councilman Joe Gebbia.
