The city of Brookhave presents Brookhaven 101, an information session on the city’s tree ordinance. Passed in August 2014, the ordinance outlines the regulations regarding all aspects of trees within city limits. The purpose and intent is to protect the rights of property owners and to facilitate and promote canopy perservation and tree replacement as an integral part of the land development and construction process in the city.

“The workshop series is designed to educate the community on various city functions and we thought the best place to start was with our Tree Ordinance,” said Community Development Director Ben Song. “Brookhaven is often defined by its beautiful, mature trees and our tree ordinance and associated landscaping requirements play an important role in preserving that tree canopy.”

The workshop will explain how the ordinance assures the right level of tree preservation and a case study will be presented to share various facets associated with development and its relationship to the tree ordinance.

The session, free and open to the public is 9 a.m. to noon Monday on the third floof of Brookhaven City Hall, 4362 Peachtree Road.
