Brookhaven city council approved the use of non-allocated Homestead Option Sales Tax, funds for public works and public safety equipment at its regular meeting last week.

HOST funds for the city of Brookhaven totalled $6.4 million from 2014. HOST funds are generated from one percent of the seven percent sales tax collected in Dekalb County, and it is divided among the county and the cities within it. Eighty percent is distributed among homeowners through property tax credits and twenty percent goes to fund capital projects.
