Police in Brookhaven on Wednesday announced the arrests of two men accused in burglaries, including a crime in which a suspect pointed a gun at a child.

Atlanta residents Michael Crowder, 25, and Malcolm White, 26, are accused in a Tuesday burglary at an apartment complex, which police didn’t name, in the 2900 block of Clairmont Road. Officers responded and both suspects attempted to flee and were chased, according to a news release.

Crowder was arrested outside the building; White was apprehended a few minutes later with help from the Sandy Springs Police K9 Unit, police said.

“Two stolen handguns were recovered at the scene, as was as a stolen vehicle,” Brookhaven police spokesman Carlos Nino said.

Detectives reportedly have also linked Crowder and White to an Aug. 31 burglary in the same area.

“In that incident, the homeowner interrupted the burglary,” Nino said. “When confronted, White pointed a gun at the victim and her nine year-old daughter.”

The men face a slew of charges, including cruelty to a child.

Detectives are working with other departments to determine if the suspects are connected to similar crimes elsewhere.
